Dr. Elder is the Associate Clinical Director of Medical Physics works with Dr. Fox to implement the clinical services provided in the department. In 1997, Dr. Elder received his Ph.D. from Georgia Tech in the area of stereotactic rotational therapy for areas outside of the brain. His research in this area combined with his clinical skills and hardware background complements our clinical image guided radiation therapy program (IGRT). He received his certification in 1997 from American Board of Radiology in Therapeutic Radiological Physics. Dr. Elder provides clinical oversight at our four hospitals to review the clinical physics procedures, assist with clinical service procedures and improve the quality of our procedures. Dr. Elder is involved in computational dosimetry projects with Georgia Tech’s Nuclear Engineering Department. He spends 40% of spring semester teaching on campus at GT in Medical Physics program. His research interests are in computational dosimetry methods and new treatment planning and delivery methods.
