Benjamin W. Fischer-Valuck, MD, is a radiation oncologist in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Fischer-Valuck practices general radiation oncology and specializes in stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), high-dose-rate brachytherapy, and Gamma Knife radiosurgery. He treats patients with lung cancer, prostate cancer, and gastrointestinal cancer at Emory Saint Joseph's Hospital.
Dr. Fischer-Valuck graduated magna cum laude with a BS and MS both in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. He obtained his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in Shreveport, Louisana. He completed an internship in internal medicine at University of Colorado, Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colorado. He then completed his residency in radiation oncology at Washington University School of Medicine in Saint Louis, Missouri, where he was Chief Resident in his final year of residency training.
Dr. Fischer-Valuck is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society and was a recipient of the RSNA Roentgen Resident/Fellow Research Award during his training at Washington University in St. Louis.
Dr. Fischer-Valuck's research interests include clinical trials for lung and genitourinary cancers, advancements in stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) for lung and gastrointestinal malignancies, and novel uses of HDR brachytherapy and Gamma Knife radiosurgery. He also has a particular interest in clinical trials of proton radiation therapy for the treatment of lung and prostate malignancies.
Dr. Fischer-Valuck has published and co-authored multiple manuscripts published in oncology journals such as Cancer, International Journal of Radiation Oncology, Biology, Physics, Radiotherapy and Oncology, and Journal of Urology. He is a peer reviewer for journals including Clinical Lung Cancer, Practical Radiation Oncology, and International Journal of Radiation Oncology, Biology, Physics.
